Save fuel: Turn off the front differential when driving on normal road. With this kit, the driver will be able to turn the front differential on/off WHILE driving. Your Lock/Unlock Lever is changed from a 2-positions into a 3-positions lever. Before (2 state lever) 1. position   4 x 4 (Center Differential Locked) 2. position  4 x 4 (Center Differential Unlocked)    After (3 state lever) 1. position 4 x 2 (Connection to Front Differential turned off) 2. position 4 x 4 (Center Differential Locked) 3. position 4 x 4 (Center Differential Unlocked) Keep driving; just remember to depress the clutch pedal while switching to/from any of the 3 states. With the increased fuel-prices and focus on environment, this is an investment that will make your wallet and environment happy. The savings is achieved by reducing the friction loss in the front differential (by turning it off).
This kit is very easy to install. Remove (unbolt) the old Front Differential connector Install the new.
Acording to the Russians, this kit has been developed entirely to save fuel, and they even claim, this would give the following savings: Save up to 2 L/100 km (when driving 10.000 km/year this gives 2 * 10.000 / 100 = 200 L/year) This kit would have a Pay-Back time less than 2 years !. But, there is one thing you must know about this kit: It does not stop the front differential from turning around, since the front wheel hubs are not the free-wheel type. It is a well known issue, that stopping the wheel axels and front differential from turning around leads to a very much better fuel economy. But with this kit, they keep on turning around. Only the traction is lost, and the savings are therefore less significant. We have no documented test-results from this kit. But as soon as we do, you can see them here.
